unt for Could you be a Friend to Friend volunteer?
We all know an older person who has touched our lives in some way. They could be your parents, grandparents neighbour or friend. With the help of our wonderful volunteers we aim to ensure these special older people in our communities do not become lonely, isolated or forgotten. Instead our volunteers enable these members of your neighbourhood to enjoy a less lonely, more active independent older age and celebrate all they have given and continue to give.
We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, caring, understanding and enjoy helping older people in their communities or who enjoy a fund raising challenge. If you want to make a difference to older people in the Holme Valley, gain experience in social care, improve your CV, learn new skills and build self-confidence or simply meet new people then Friend to Friend is the charity for you. Whether you have a few hours a week, a fortnight or a month, we will have an opportunity for you. With your help, older people can lead a more active and independent life.
Volunteer opportunities at Friend to Friend
Volunteer car drivers are always needed in all our areas: Holmfirth, Meltham, Marsden, Honley, Netherton. We aim to provide door to door transport for many members to our sessions, and rely massively on volunteers and their cars. Milage can be paid on request.
Volunteers are always needed to help with activities, serve drinks and/or food at all our groups.
Our Men’s Group in Meltham is in need of more helpers, ideally men themselves! We meet weekly on a Tuesday on licensed premises for a beer and light lunch, a chat and a game or two of dominoes.
Our Marsden Group is currently on the hunt for new volunteers to enable the group to continue as we anticipate the retirement of 2 key people. If you might be able to step in, please get in touch, and we will be delighted to support you while you try us out!
Similarly, we have a growing demand for events in the Honley area but can currently only offer a monthly session due to lack of volunteers. Our hope would be to increase what we can offer our Honley residents. Can you help?
Presenters and performers (interesting or educational speakers, representatives of organisations, singers, musicians, dancers, spoken word etc) are also booked to present to our members at various group venues. These may be paid appointments if funds allow.
If you might be interested in joining our lovely bunch of volunteers please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01484 687773, or pop along to any of our sessions. You will be made most welcome!
